My Vision for Burien

---

My name is Patricia Hudson, and I am excited to announce my candidacy for Burien City Council position 4.  I am a mother of two and a Human Resources professional who has lived in the City of Burien for almost 30 years. I raised my family in Burien and am a native Washingtonian.  

We need a leader who will listen to your concerns and ideas and be proactive in decision making. We need a leader who genuinely cares for our community. We need a leader that can work with local businesses and create programs and systems where we can all experience success, not for the short term but for the long term. I am that leader. 

As an HR professional, I have developed policies and worked alongside stakeholders of varying interests to create benefits, livable wages and workforce development programs for communities I serve. I have created educational programs where community members can receive training to obtain a job with a livable wage and benefits to support their family. 

Burien has a lack of affordable housing, jobs with living wages, mental health and behavioral health programs. I will create safe places within our community, programs for our children, endorse policies focused on housing for all, and programs that create economic opportunities for businesses. I am a volunteer, former board member and PCO who has worked alongside others to be a voice for our community. 

Burien has done an amazing job of beautifying the community in many areas. However, we need to continue to focus on creating more green spaces - big and small - for all of our residents to enjoy. I plan to add more electric charging stations and making Burien more walk and bike friendly and find other creative ways to incentivize more community members to go green. By focusing on the growth and protection of businesses, schools and our environment, our city will continue to thrive.  

As housing prices soar in Burien, we are losing the soul of our city. How do we maintain the spirit and soul of our neighborhoods for working families while moving to the future? By electing me! I will collaborate with stakeholders and work to resolve the issues we face.
